Norfolk State Homecoming Updates: Know Before You Go

Spartan Fans,

As Norfolk State prepares for Homecoming football weekend, please review the following important information regarding tickets, campus access, parking, traffic, tailgating, wristbands and stadium entry.

Planning ahead will help ensure a smooth arrival to campus and an enjoyable Homecoming experience.


TICKETS & CAMPUS ENTRY

A valid game ticket is required to enter campus on game day.

  • Every person entering campus must have a valid game ticket.
  • NO TICKET – NO ENTRY.
  • Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
  • Tickets may be purchased at the Norfolk State Box Office Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or online 24 hours a day at NSUSpartanTickets.com.
  • All guests will pass through security at campus entry points and may be subject to metal detector screening.
  • Have your ticket ready for scanning before approaching the entry point.

WRISTBAND PICKUP

Homecoming wristbands are available to help expedite access through exterior campus gates on game day.

  • Thursday – Students Only
  • Pickup:
    • 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. - Echols Memorial Hall (Basketball Arena)
    • 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Student Center
    • 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. - Gill Gymnasium (Volleyball Arena)
  • Friday – Homecoming Football Ticket Holders
  • Pickup:
    • 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. - Echols Memorial Hall (Basketball Arena)
    • 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Student Center
    • 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. - Gill Gymnasium (Volleyball Arena)
Please remember:
  • You must have a valid game ticket to receive a wristband.
  • One person, one ticket, one wristband.
  • Individuals may not pick up wristbands for family members, friends or other guests.
  • Wristbands are not tailgating passes or permits.
  • Wristbands serve as an expedited option for entry through exterior campus gates on game day.

PARKING & CAMPUS ACCESS

Due to the Homecoming Parade and activities:

  • No parking passes will be sold beginning Monday, Oct. 5.
  • Gate 8 will be the only point of entry for on-campus parking on Saturday, until 11:30 A.M. following the conclusion of the parade.
  • Guests with on-campus parking should allow additional time for arrival due to road closures, traffic and increased pedestrian activity.
  • Follow all posted signage and directions from law enforcement and event personnel.

HOMECOMING PARADE & STREET CLOSURES

Several streets surrounding Norfolk State University will be closed or impacted by the Homecoming Parade, from 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Closures will affect the following areas:

  • Virginia Beach Boulevard at Park Avenue
  • Merrimac Avenue to Corprew Avenue
  • Corprew Avenue to Park Avenue

Fans should anticipate traffic delays and plan their routes accordingly.


TAILGATING

A valid Norfolk State Athletics tailgate permit is required to tailgate on campus.

  • NO TAILGATE PERMIT – NO TAILGATING.
  • Unauthorized tailgating will not be permitted anywhere on campus, to include personal vehicles.
  • A game-day wristband does not serve as a tailgate permit.

STADIUM ENTRY & CLEAR BAG POLICY

Norfolk State University's Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for the Homecoming football game.

Fans are encouraged to review stadium entry requirements before arriving and allow additional time for security screening.


PLAN AHEAD

Homecoming is one of the busiest weekends of the year at Norfolk State. Fans are encouraged to:

  • Purchase tickets before game day.
  • Pick up wristbands in advance when eligible.
  • Confirm parking and tailgating credentials before arriving.
  • Expect road closures and traffic delays.
  • Arrive early.
  • Have tickets ready for scanning when approaching campus.
  • Review the Clear Bag Policy before leaving home.
