NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to four games with a commanding 90-71 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday afternoon inside Echols Memorial Hall. 

With the win, the Spartans move to 14-14 overall and 7-4 in MEAC play, while the Bulldogs fall to 7-19 (5-5 MEAC). 

Anthony McComb III paced Norfolk State with 24 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting effort, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free-throw line. Jaquel Morris added 13 points and Elijah Jamison chipped in 11 points and a game-high six assists. Melo Baines led NSU on the glass with six rebounds, while Jordan Leaks recorded four steals. 

Norfolk State struck first, scoring the opening five points before South Carolina State responded with a run to tie the game at 10 midway through the first half. The Spartans answered with an 8-3 spurt capped by a Leaks layup, but the Bulldogs stayed within striking distance, trimming the deficit to one at 26-25 with under six minutes remaining. 

NSU seized control late in the half, closing on an 18-10 run to carry a 44-35 lead into the break. 

The Spartans pulled away quickly after halftime, opening the second period on a 9-0 run to stretch the margin to 53-35. Norfolk State maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way, pushing the lead to 20 with just over five minutes remaining before securing the 90-71 victory.
