NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State baseball team dropped a 15-0 decision to Old Dominion on Wednesday afternoon at Marty L. Miller Field.
Norfolk State slipped to 2-5 on the season, while Old Dominion improved to 6-2.
Myles Crocker (0-2) took the loss after allowing runs early, while Ryan Sheehy (1-0) earned the win for the Monarchs.
Old Dominion opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single up the middle to take a 1-0 lead. Norfolk State answered with two hits in the bottom half of the inning as
Jalan Jones and
Thomas Ealey each singled.
The Monarchs added a run in the second inning on three hits, but the Spartans responded defensively in the third. Norfolk State turned a double play to escape the inning and keep the deficit at two.
Old Dominion seized control in the fourth inning, scoring seven runs on five hits.
Jaydan Israel singled to center field in the bottom of the frame to spark the Spartans, but the Monarchs cut the rally short with a fielder's choice.
The Monarchs added six runs over the next three innings and sealed the win by striking out three batters in the bottom of the seventh.
