NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State men's tennis freshman Marcin Andrzejczak was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Andrzejczak continued his strong freshman campaign with a standout performance at the Nat Warren UTR Tennis Tournament, going a perfect 4-0 over the weekend.
After receiving a first-round bye, Andrzejczak made a dominant run through the bracket, earning straight-set victories over John Felts (6-2, 6-3), Kasper Kulpa (6-1, 6-3), and Tom Saporta (6-1, 6-0). He capped the tournament with a championship victory over teammate Szymon Malecki, winning 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
Norfolk State returns to action on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the MEAC Tennis Championship, where the Spartans will face No. 6 seed Coppin State. First serve is set for 12 p.m. at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
