NORFOLK, Va. – Head Coach
Robert Jones continues to strengthen the Norfolk State men's basketball program with the addition of standout freshmen Jordan Skyers and Jamese Jordan to the 2026-27 roster.
A four-star guard out of Putnam Science Academy, Skyers enters as one of the highest-rated recruits in program history. He held offers from 16 programs, including Power Five schools Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, and Virginia, along with top mid-major programs such as East Carolina, South Florida, UMass, Hofstra, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure and St. John's.
Skyers is ranked No. 22 nationally among combo guards by 247Sports and No. 40 by ESPN, further cementing his status as one of the top prospects in the 2026 class.
He has earned national recognition throughout his amateur career, highlighted by standout performances on the prep and AAU circuits. In 2026, Skyers was named to the National Prep Championships All-Tournament Second Team and earned EYBL U20 SuperFinal MVP honors in Reggio Calabria, Italy, while competing with the NY Renaissance. He also received Nike EYBL 17U All-Breakout Team recognition in 2025 and was a two-time Future Phenom Camp MVP (2018, 2019).
Skyers has consistently produced against elite competition, averaging 25.0 points per game during the 2026 EYBL U20 SuperFinal, including 27 points in the championship game. In Overtime Elite play, he averaged 12.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in 2025, showcasing his ability to impact the game across multiple areas.
"Signing Jordan was monumental for our program," said Jones. "He's the highest-rated freshman in this class and one of the highest-rated recruits we've brought in. I've known Jordan for a long time, and his growth as a player has been tremendous. His toughness, elite athleticism, and skill set will allow him to make an immediate impact."
Joining Skyers is Jamese Jordan, a physically imposing post presence who brings size, strength, and production to the Spartan frontcourt. Standing near 6-foot-10 and 240 pounds, Jordan is regarded as one of the top big men in Virginia, earning recognition as the No. 5-rated center in the state by PrephoopsVA.
A consistent contributor throughout his high school career, Jordan appeared in 75 varsity games, totaling 510 points and 406 rebounds. He showcased his interior presence with 63 career blocks while adding 68 assists, highlighting his ability to impact both ends of the floor.
"Jamese is the No. 5-rated center in Virginia, according to PrephoopsVA," said Jones. "At nearly 6-foot-10 and 240 pounds, he has the physical tools to compete right away at the college level. The exciting part is that his best basketball is still ahead of him, and we're looking forward to his development and success in a Spartan uniform."
Skyers and Jordan join Justin Jones, who signed in the fall, along with Keon Mitchell, forming a formidable core to lead the Spartans into the future.
"These additions give us what is arguably one of the best freshman classes in program history, alongside Justin Jones, the No. 8-rated combo guard in Virginia, and Keon Mitchell, the No. 5-rated combo guard in the state," Jones added. "We're excited about the talent, versatility, and competitiveness this group brings to Norfolk State."
