NORFOLK, Va. --- The Norfolk State men's track & field team currently leads the MEAC Outdoor Championships after the second day of competition at William "Dick" Price Stadium.
NSU currently has 69 points, followed by Delaware State with 54 and South Carolina State with 53.
Lewis Too earned Norfolk State's lone track medal of the day, taking silver in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:12.05.
Jemmel Green followed in fourth place at 9:47.48, while
Basil Koech placed sixth in 10:13.66.
Kristopher Stephens captured his second medal of the championships, winning the long jump with a mark of 7.51 meters.
Atrell Williams added a silver medal in the shot put with a toss of 16.05 meters, while
Jayshaun Campbell placed seventh with a mark of 14.53 meters.
Kendrick Winfield advanced to Saturday's final in the 400 meters after winning his preliminary heat in 46.05.
Lavontay Bond also qualified for the final, placing fifth overall in 47.02.
Christopher Basking posted a personal-best time of 10.28 to win the 100-meter preliminary quarterfinal and secure a spot in Saturday's final.
The MEAC Outdoor Championships conclude Saturday beginning with the triple jump at 10 a.m.
