NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University sophomore Jonathan Soimo (Kapsabet, Kenya) was recognized Wednesday at the MEAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference announced.

Soimo ran a personal-best 5-mile time of 25 minutes, 9 seconds to place 19th overall out of 111 runners at the Colonial Inter-Regional Challenge hosted by William & Mary on Saturday. Soimo helped NSU to a sixth-place finish.

Soimo's time ranks him as the No. 2 men's cross country runner in the MEAC this season behind teammate Hillary Cheruiyot (Eldoret, Kenya), whose fastest time is 25:08.
