NORFOLK, Va. – The 2025 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships are just around the corner, set for Saturday, Nov. 1, at a new location — the WakeMed Soccer Complex in Cary, N.C.
The women's 5K race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 12 p.m. Both races will stream live on ESPN+.
Norfolk State enters the championships with an impressive history of success. The Spartan men have captured five consecutive MEAC titles, while the women have claimed four of the last five, a dominant stretch dating back to 2019.
This season, sophomores
Ian Kimutai and
Mathew Kipkoech have led the way for the men. Kimutai posted a season-best 8K time of 24:06.3 at the ECU Pirate XC Invitational, with Kipkoech close behind at 24:15.7.
For the women, junior
Sonia Koech continues to pace the Spartans, ranking fourth in the MEAC this season with a 5K time of 18:45.1, recorded at the Virginia Invitational.
