NORFOLK, Va.
— Aundia Gray had 15 kills and Krystal Cooper recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 15 digs as North Carolina A&T defeated Norfolk State 3-1 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match on Tuesday night at Echols Hall.

It was a hard-fought match, but in the end, the Lady Aggies (5-25, 3-5 MEAC) won 30-23, 25-30, 30-23, 30-25. With the loss, NSU falls to 5-24 on the season and 2-5 in the conference.

The Spartans' aggressive play paid off in game 2. NSU went up 24-22 on a Chantel Cherry (Portsmouth, Va.) kill. Junior Yolanda Roberts (Virginia Beach, Va.) sealed the 30-25 win with a kill of her own.

Brenden Chatman had a match-high 43 assists for the Lady Aggies and Stacey Malone led all players with 21 digs.

Freshman Heather Quinn (Conyers, Ga.) paced NSU with 11 kills. Cherry had 10 kills, 13 digs, and a season high-tying three service aces. Sophomore Solange Honore (San Fernando, Trinidad) had 40 assists and 16 digs, while senior Vanessa Faircloth (Lumbeton, N.C.) had eight kills and 3.5 blocks (one solo).

Roberts just missed a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs and junior Abaina Farrell (Charlotte Amalie, U.S.V.I.) had 14 digs.

The Spartans take on the Lady Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman at 3 p.m. on Friday at Echols Hall.
