B-CU Volleyball Drops NSU 3-0

Daytona Beach, Fla. — The Bethune-Cookman volleyball team improved to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a 3-0 (30-21, 30-28, 30-26) win over Norfolk State on Saturday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium.

Chelle Ticeson hit .500 with 11 kills, six digs, and 2.5 blocks (one solo) for the Lady Wildcats. Keisha Vicks had a double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs, finishing with a .286 attack percentage.

For the Spartans (4-19, 1-2 MEAC), juniors Chantel Cherry (Portsmouth, Va.) and Yolanda Roberts (Virginia Beach, Va.) each had nine kills and double-digit digs. Cherry recorded 13 digs, while Roberts, juniors Shardonay Blueford (Chesapeake, Va.) and Abaina Farrell (Charlotte Amalie, U.S.V.I) each had 11.

Sophomore Solange Honore (San Fernando, Trinidad) had a double-double of her own with 32 assists and 14 digs. Freshman Heather Quinn (Conyers, Ga.) hit .333 with two kills, two service aces, and four blocks (two solo). Senior Vanessa Faircloth (Lumberton, N.C.) had a match-high three aces and added seven kills, four digs, and two blocks (one solo).

The Spartans travel to Orangeburg, S.C. on Oct. 10 for their second MEAC matchup with the Lady Bulldogs. The match starts at 6 p.m.
