Bowlers Take 2 Victories at UMES

Kineshia Irby Averaged 159 in NSU's 6 Team Games
MILLSBORO, Del. – The Norfolk State bowling team finished with a 2-9 record last weekend at the UMES Hawk Classic, one of the nation's largest early regular-season events.

The Spartans went 0-6 in team play, falling to St. Paul's, Hampton, Howard, Adelphi, Vanderbilt and Bowie State. Three Spartans averaged at least 159 in the six team games, led by Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.) with a 161.5. Tiffany Hunt (Norfolk, Va.) was next with a 160.5 average, including a season-high game of 202 against Hampton. Kineshia Irby (Charlotte, N.C.) averaged 159.3 for the day.

NSU rebounded with a pair of wins in Sunday's five baker games, beating Morgan State 606-596 and Coppin State 568-542.

The Spartans, who are now 8-12 on the year, are off until the weekend of Dec. 1-2, when they compete against the MEAC Southern Division in Orangeburg, S.C.
