NORFOLK, Va. — Sophomore forward/center Tiffany Gadsden (Columbia, S.C.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. Gadsden shares the honor with Florida A&M's Denise Tate.
Gadsden recorded a game-high eight blocks and a team-high 14 rebounds (10 defensive) against Southern in the consolation game of the Comcast Lobo Shootout hosted by the University of New Mexico. Gadsden averaged five points, nine rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists for the Spartans in the two tournament games.
Tate averaged 10.7 rebounds, one assist, and 1.7 steals in the Lady Rattlers' three games last week. Tate recorded a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds (11 defensive) in a victory over Jacksonville.
