NORFOLK, Va. –- The Norfolk State women's basketball team will host the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament on Saturday, March 21, at Echols Hall. The Spartans will face Loyola Chicago at 2 p.m.

The appearance marks the Spartans' first trip to the tournament since the 2021-22 season, when Norfolk State faced Drexel. The Spartans have now reached postseason play in five consecutive seasons.

Norfolk State features MEAC Defensive Player of the Year
Jasha Clinton, who ranks eighth nationally with 110 total steals and averages 3.44 steals per game. The Spartans also placed three players on the All-MEAC teams.
Da'Brya Clark earned first-team honors, while
Anjanae Richardson and Clinton received second-team recognition.

First-year head coach
Jermaine Woods will make his second appearance in the WNIT after leading Coppin State to the tournament last season.
