Bowlers Enjoy 7-3 Weekend at SCSU

Myrick Averages 190.2 for the Weekend

SUMTER, S.C. – The Norfolk State bowling team evened its season record at 15-15 after posting an impressive 7-3 record last weekend at the MEAC Southern Division competition hosted by South Carolina State.

The Spartans went a perfect 5-0 in Saturday's team play, scoring wins over Winston-Salem State (776-660), Florida A&M (742-695), Bethune-Cookman (840-728), North Carolina A&T (796-733) and South Carolina State (792-623).

Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.) was the top performer in the Spartans' five team games, knocking down 951 pins for a 190.2 average. The 190.2 average represents the top weekend average for a Spartan so far this season. She also bowled a 237 in the Spartans' win over SCSU, the top single game for a Spartan this season.

Tiffany Hunt (Norfolk, Va.) averaged a 151.8 in the five team games, including a season-best 212 in the win over Bethune-Cookman.

NSU went 2-3 in Sunday's baker games, beating WSSU and SCSU but falling to Bethune-Cookman, N.C. A&T and FAMU.

The Spartans have off for exams and the holidays before competing in the NCAA Holiday Jamboree in Atlantic City, N.J., Dec. 27-29.
