INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Norfolk State University jumper Marlon Woods (Norfolk, Va.) capped a stellar week of competition at the 2007 Finish Line USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships by placing third in the triple jump.

Woods, who tied for third in the high jump and also placed third in the long jump, had a top leap of 50 feet, 1 ¾ inches in the triple jump on Friday. He trailed only Texas A&M’s Zuheir Sharif (52- ¼ inch) and Troy Doris (51-1 ½) in the triple jump.

Woods, who will be a sophomore this fall, just missed out on qualifying for the American team heading to next month’s Pan American Junior Championships in Brazil. The top two in each event make that squad.
