Myrick, Hunt Lead Spartans to 5-6 Record at Bowie State

Myrick Bowls a Season-High 257

BOWIE, Md. – The Norfolk State bowling team went 5-6, highlighted by a 4-1 record in baker games, last weekend at the Bowie State Classic.

The Spartans won baker games Saturday against Bowie State, Virginia State, St. Paul's and North Carolina Central, losing only to Hampton.

NSU went just 1-5 in team games on Sunday, falling to UMES, Howard, Adelphia, Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis (Pa.) and defeating Morgan State. But the Spartans were not without some standout individual performances. Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Tiffany Hunt (Norfolk, Va.) both recorded their best weekend averages of the season. Myrick averaged 194 in the six games, including a personal and team season high of 257 in the win over Morgan State. Hunt averaged 181.7 in the six games with a high of 214. Both Myrick and Hunt rolled three games of over 200.

The Spartans, now 27-25 on the year, are back in action Feb. 9-11 at the Releaser's Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla.
