Final Results
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Norfolk State women's track team tallied six top-10 finishes over the weekend at the Carolina Classic.
Freshmen Jennifer Chichester (Silver Spring, Md.) and Tanisha Jenkins (Louisa, Va.) both placed fourth in their respective events. Chichester ran her second-best 800-meter time of the season (2:15.37) en route to her fourth-place finish. Jenkins, meanwhile, recorded 3,004 points to take fourth in the pentathlon.
Jenkins was followed closely by junior Victoria Faulkner (Newport News, Va.), who came in sixth in the pentathlon with 2,952 points.
NSU's other top-10 finishes came via freshman Dania Sanford (Marshall, Va.) and junior Sasha Wilson (West Columbia, S.C.). Sanford was ninth in the 200 (25.25) and 10th in the 400 (58.77). Wilson placed ninth in the shot put (40-11).
Other standouts included freshman Wanetta Kirby (Richmond, Va.), who ran a season-best time of 8.86 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries.
The Carolina Classic was the Spartans' final tuneup for the 2008 MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championship, which is Feb. 15-16 in Landover, Md.
