NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Norfolk State bowling team picked up two wins over the weekend at the Music City Classic, its final tuneup before this weekend's MEAC Bowling Championship.
The Spartans went 2-4 in Saturday's team games with wins over Wisconsin-Whitewater (862-781) and Jackson State (852-831). Tiffany Hunt (Norfolk, Va.) spearheaded the Spartans' win over UWW with her season-high game of 231.
In the win over Jackson State, Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Lacey Smith (Oklahoma City, Okla.) both rolled 200 games. Myrick (176.8), Hunt (174.5) and Smith (172.8) all averaged at least 170 in Saturday's six team games.
The Spartans (38-48) begin play in the 2008 MEAC Bowling Championship this Friday at 9 a.m. at the Sparetimes Bowling Lanes in Hampton.
