RALEIGH, N.C. – Jennifer Chichester (Silver Spring, Md.) ran a season-best 4:44.7 to finish 13th in the 1500 meter run and helped the Norfolk State women's 1600 meter sprint medley team to a fifth place finish at the Raleigh Relays.
The sprint medley team of Portia Davenport (Dale City, Va.), Wanetta Kirby (Richmond, Va.), Dania Sanford (Marshall, Va.) and Chichester finished in 4:01.45, the fastest time this season.
The Spartans got other solid performances from Alyssa Pickett (Hampton, Va.), who finished seventh in the 400 meters in 1:02.16 and She'Anna Mitchell (Hampton, Va.) who cleared 5-5 in the high jump (T-5th).
Kirby led NSU in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 14.96, while Victoria Faulkner (Newport News, Va.) and Tanisha Jenkins (Lousia, Va.) rounded out the Spartans' top-three in the event in 15.16 and 15.18, respectively.
Janet Brown (Chesapeake, Va.) leapt 17-11 in the long jump for a 13th-place finish with Kirby close behind, finishing 15th with a jump of 17-10 ¼.
Sanford ran a season-best 12.10 in the preliminaries of the 100 meter dash.
The Spartans travel to Gainesville, Fla. to take part in the Florida Relays.
