NORFOLK, Va. — Freshman guard Marquilla Evans (Portsmouth, Va.) was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday.

In NSU's last four games, Evans averaged 17.5 points and 5.3 rebounds. Against Morgan State, she scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field and added six rebounds. Evans led the Spartans with 18 points on 6-of-15 from the field and 2-of-2 from 3-point range in a loss to Delaware State. She followed that performance with a career-high 26 points (8-of-15), including a perfect performance (6-of-6) from the free-throw line, with five rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore.

On the season, Evans leads the team in scoring (10.5 ppg) and rebounding (4.1 rpg).
