BLACKSBURG, Va. – Sophomore Aramis Massenburg (Ettrick, Va.) ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time and set a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles on Friday night as the Spartan men opened their indoor track season at the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House.
Massenburg clocked a 7.87 to tie Tennessee's Charlton Rolle for first place. That time broke the old NSU record set by Avery Wilson in 2007.
Massenburg's time was one of several personal-best performances for NSU on Friday. Junior Meredith Whitties (Petersburg, Va.) also ran a PR in the 60 hurdles (8.18), placing sixth. Freshmen Quentin Walker (Hampton, Va.) and Sherrard Marrow (Hampton, Va.) ran PRs to finish sixth in the 60 meters and 500 meters, respectively. Walker clocked a 6.87 and Marrow a 1:05.11.
