DOVER, Del. – The NSU women's bowling team compiled a 5-4 record last weekend at the Capital Classic hosted by Delaware State.
The Spartans (40-26) went 2-3 in Saturday's team games, beating St. Peter's and Coppin State before losing to Adelphi, Fairleigh Dickinson and Delaware State. Cathryn Myrick (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named NSU's team MVP for the weekend by knocking down a team-best 897 pins in he five team games. She averaged 179.4. Chelsea Krall (Virginia Beach, Va.) was next with 873 total pins. She averaged a 174.6.
Freshman Sheila-Marie Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) posted the top average for the Spartans over the weekend, with a 181.5 in her four games. Senior Yolanda Roberts (Virginia Beach, Va.) had the high game, with a season-best 219 in the win over Coppin State. Krystal Stevenson (Richmond, Va.) was also solid with a 173.4 average in three games.
NSU continued its stellar baker play on Sunday, with a 3-1 record. NSU topped Morgan State twice and St. Peter's once, while falling to Adelphi. The Spartans are now 23-11 in baker games this season.
