GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Norfolk State women's track and field seven East Regional qualifiers competed on Friday at Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T University.
Freshman Shanneka Claiborne (Ettrick, Va.) ran an 11.81 in the preliminaries of the 100 meters, while junior Allyssa Pickett (Hampton, Va.) ran a 1:02.05 in the prelims of the 400-hurdles. Neither athlete made it back to the finals.
The 4x100 relay team of Tierra Flowers (Coatesville, Pa.), Wanetta Kirby (Richmond, Va.), Portia Davenport (Dale City, Va.) and Claiborne was disqualified for a bad exchange between Davenport and Claiborne.
The Spartans other regional qualifier, MEAC Outdoor pole vault champion Katie Wright (Virginia Beach, Va.), failed to clear the opening height of 12 feet (3.66 meters).
