SUMTER, S.C. – The NSU bowling team finished the weekend with a 4-7 record at the South Carolina State Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
The Spartans (55-41), ranked No. 19 in the latest NTCA national top 20 poll, got off to a slow start. NSU went 1-4 in Saturday's team games, beating Bethune-Cookman before dropping games to North Carolina Central, South Carolina State and two to Winston-Salem State. Tiffany Hunt (Norfolk, Va.) and Chelsea Krall (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the way with 674 and 672 total pins, respectively, in four games apiece. Both rolled a high of 187, with Krall's coming against WSSU and Hunt against SCSU.
The Spartans fared much better on Sunday, going 3-3 in baker games. NSU started with wins over BCU and NCCU before falling to WSSU and SCSU. In best-of-seven play later in the day, the Spartans topped BCU 4-3 before losing 4-1 to the host Lady Bulldogs to end the meet.
The Spartans are back in action this weekend a the Morgan State Invitational in Baltimore.
