NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University tennis coach Matthew Halfpenny announced Thursday the signing of high school standouts Brian Bullock (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell HS) and Kent Austin (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood HS) to national letters of intent to play for the Spartans beginning this fall.
Bullock is ranked as one of the top 15 players in the state of North Carolina and is a member of the National Honor Society. His father, Charles, is a 1970 NSU graduate.
Austin is an all-district and all-state selection who is ranked one of the top 25 players in Indiana as a senior. He is also a recipient of an honors college scholarship from NSU.
“Both Brian and Kent are going to have an immediate impact on our men's team. Both players come in with very strong backgrounds and work ethics,” Halfpenny said. “We feel they will contribute to our lineup immediately and I feel very confident in their desire to develop and grow. We are extremely excited to have them on board. Brian and Kent will represent Norfolk State University and our men's tennis program with great pride.”
