NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State University junior Kyle O'Quinn was named the MEAC Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 17, the league announced Monday.

O'Quinn averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game to help the Spartans split their two games last week. In the win over Florida A&M on Jan. 10, O'Quinn registered his sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and 13 rebounds. He also swatted away five shots in that one.

In the loss to Hampton last Saturday, O'Quinn recorded a team-high 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. For the week, O'Quinn shot 52 percent from the floor and 91 percent from the free throw line.

This is O'Quinn's first Player of the Week award. He also has been named Defensive Player of the Week twice already this year.
