Jones Adds Miles Mitchell to 2026-27 Men's Basketball Roster

NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State head men's basketball coach Robert Jones continues to strengthen the Spartans' frontcourt with the addition of Miles Mitchell to the 2026-27 roster.

A 6-foot-10, 210-pound forward from Detroit, Mich., Mitchell joins Norfolk State after spending time at University of Detroit Mercy and Triton College. Mitchell brings size, length, and collegiate experience to the Spartan lineup.

"Miles gives us additional size at 6-foot-10 and possesses NBA-style athleticism that will benefit us offensively and defensively," said Jones. "He has the versatility to play both frontcourt positions, which gives us added flexibility with our lineup. We're excited about what he brings to the program and look forward to his development in the Green and Gold."

Mitchell spent the 2025-26 season at Triton College where he averaged 8.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor. He totaled 139 rebounds, 23 blocks, and 35 assists, showing his ability to impact both ends of the floor.

He produced several standout performances during the year, highlighted by a season-high 23 points against Olive-Harvey College (Dec. 16, 2025). Mitchell also pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds against Harry S. Truman College (Dec. 18, 2025), added 12 rebounds against Olive-Harvey (Feb. 10, 2026), and recorded a four-block performance against Wilbur Wright College (Dec. 9, 2025). He posted multiple double-digit scoring outings, including 17 points against Kennedy-King College and 16 points against Wilbur Wright College.

Prior to Triton, Mitchell appeared in 27 games as a freshman at Detroit Mercy. He recorded a season-high eight points against Rhode Island (Nov. 27, 2024) and pulled down nine rebounds at IU Indy (Jan. 9, 2025). He also displayed his defensive activity with a three-steal outing at Youngstown State.

Mitchell played his high school basketball at Warren Lincoln High School in Michigan before beginning his collegiate career at Detroit Mercy.
