NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State softball team will welcome Delaware, Marist, Maryland Eastern Shore and St. Francis (PA) to the NSU Softball Field for the two-day Spartan Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
As usual, admission is free to the public. The tournament gets underway Saturday at 9 a.m. when NSU and Delaware square off and will last throughout the entire day both days. Check below for the complete schedule.
In addition, live stats and a live video feed will be made available for the entire tournament. Cost of the video feed is $8 per day, the same price as a normal doubleheader.

Scouting the Spartans
Norfolk State stands 3-9 on the season after dropping both games of a DH to James Madison on Wednesday. The Spartans have scored just five runs in their last five games.
NSU is hitting .248 as a team and is led by Jeanette Sauceda (.452, seven runs, six RBI, three doubles) and Danielle Wright (.375, nine runs, four home runs, 14 RBI, six stolen bases).
Melina Valles (.321, five RBI) and Kathy Cortez (.286, seven runs, three RBI) have also added to the offensive attack for the Spartans.
In the circle, Casey Pomeroy leads the way with a 2.42 ERA and 19 strikeouts to only five walks in 26 innings. Elizabeth Castaneda (3.28 ERA, seven strikeouts), Alyssa Velazquez (4.29 ERA, 12 strike¬outs) and Jamie Schulle (5.19 ERA, 14 strikeouts) round out NSU's pitching staff.
About Delaware
The Blue Hens also own a 3-9 record, including a pair of wins over Hampton on March 1. Also like NSU, Delaware has struggled at times at the plate, hitting just .246 as a team.
Michelle McKinnon (.370, six RBI) and Lara An¬drews (.323, three RBI) lead the team in hitting, while Gina Knutson has a team-high seven RBI. Anne Marie Pagnano (1-3, 4.13 ERA) and Aman¬da Stacevicz (2-3, 4.25 ERA, 21 strikeouts) have pitched most of the innings for the Blue Hens.
About Marist
The Red Foxes stand 3-7 so far this year and are hitting just .223 as a team. Caitlin Schell (.467, five RBI), Megan Lamoureux (.364, five runs, eight RBI) and Ashley Corriss (.360, seven runs, two doubles) pace Marist at the plate.
Emily Osterhaus (2-2, 2.78 ERA, 21 strikeouts), Paige Lewis (1-2, 4.94 ERA, 17 strikeouts) and Hayley Shelton (0-3, 8.17 ERA) have split the starts for the Red Foxes.
About UMES
The Hawks own a 1-10 record this year, having been done in by a collective 10.33 team ERA. UMES is hitting .266 as a team and scoring 3.73 runs a game. Charlise Castro (.471 ERA, eight runs, four doubles, four home runs, 16 RBI), Car¬men Gurrola (.387, seven runs, six RBI) and Kyrus Whitehurst (.313, six RBI) are the offensive fire¬power for the Hawks.
Amber Corrigan (0-5, 8.24 ERA) and Gurrola (1-5, 11.94 ERA) have pitched all but two innings for UMES.
About St. Francis (PA)
The Red Flash sport a 3-15 mark, with wins over Dartmouth, Albany and Eastern Kentucky. The team is hitting .250 and scoring 2.24 runs per game. Katie McMellen (.351, nine runs, six RBI), Jasa Mitchell (.327, eight runs, five doubles) and Kaitlin Andler (.300, one home run, four RBI) lead the offensive attack. Karlie Miller has a team-high seven RBI.
Megan Layne (3-11, 4.31 ERA, 42 strikeouts) has pitched a majority of the innings, and Michelle Spisak and Brooke Koch have started the other five games for the Red Flash.
