NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Playing on its home court, Christopher Newport defeated the Norfolk State men's tennis team, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at the CNU Outdoor Courts.
Junior Arsenio Culver won in both singles and doubles, but the Captains took every other match on the day to improve to 6-2 on the season. NSU saw its record drop to 2-11 overall.
Culver won in straight sets over Eric Shulman, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, and also picked up an 8-2 victory over Matt King and Garrett Widing at No. 1 doubles along with junior Ben Marks. It marked Culver's third-straight singles win and the fourth straight victory for he and Marks in doubles play.
