RALEIGH, N.C.
- Led by two of their long jumpers, the Spartan women's track team brought home four top-five finishes from their two days last weekend at the Raleigh Relays track meet hosted by N.C. State.

Senior Elaine Rhoades won section II of the women's long jump with a top leap of 17 feet, 9 inches. Teammate Champagne Bell competed in section I and earned fifth place with a best effort of 18-9.25.

Senior Shanneka Claiborne continued her strong start to the outdoor season by battling cool and blustery conditions to take third place in the women's 100 meters on Saturday, clocking a time of 11.91 seconds. Claiborne and Bell also teamed with Dania Sanford and Wanetta Kirby to place third in the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 46.64 seconds.

Kirby had a pair of top-12 finishes over the weekend to go with her efforts in the 4x100 relay. Kirby placed 10th in the 100 hurdles (14.32) and 12th in the high jump (5-3). Elsewhere in the field events, sophomore Kaleena Gray posted her collegiate-best discus throw of 135 feet.

The Spartans are back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla.
