CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Junior Champagne Bell had a hand in four top-10 finishes over the weekend at the Dick Taylor Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina.
Bell's biggest highlight of the weekend came on Saturday, when she finished fourth in the 400 meters in a time of 56.80 seconds. Saturday marked Bell's first time running the 400 this season.
Bell also ran the anchor leg Saturday for NSU's 4x400 meter relay team that placed seventh. Bell and teammates Ashley Sessoms, Rayiana Johnson and Venus Whitties ran a time of 4:00.03.
In field events, Bell placed seventh in the high jump (5-3) and eighth in the long jump despite an off showing in her signature event (17-6).
In other field events, freshman Kaydianne McKenzie jumped a season-best for the second straight week in the triple jump. Her best effort was 36-10.5, which was good for seventh place.
NSU's other top-10 finish Saturday came via Johnson in the 200 meters (26.19).
NSU participates in the Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational next Friday and Saturday in Blacksburg, Va.
