Several other freshmen looked strong on Saturday in the team's first meet in a month. Another rookie, jumper Kaydianne McKenzie, posted a top jump of 36 feet, 9.5 inches to claim third place in the triple jump.

On the track, freshman Torie Cunningham ran well in the 60 meters. She placed third with her time of 7.74 in the finals, just behind Teyanna Green and Britney Wattley of Morgan State, who both clocked 7.73. Senior Shanneka Claiborne, who entered the weekend with the top-ranked time in the nation at 60 meters, posted a time of 7.52 seconds in the prelims, but did not run in the finals.

In other running events, freshman Shaniquia Epps placed second and was the top collegiate finisher in the 60-meter hurdles. She clocked a time of 9.33 seconds in the finals.
