BALTIMORE, Md. – Freshman Kaydianne McKenzie led a small contingent of Spartan women at the Morgan State Legacy Meet by placing second in the triple jump on Saturday afternoon at Hughes Stadium.
McKenzie set a new personal-record with her top jump of 38 feet, 11 inches. She was narrowly defeated by Krystina Muhammad, who won by just 1.5 inches (39-00.50).
In other field events, freshman Tiara Davis tied for fourth place in the pole vault with a top height of 9-10.
In track events, senior Jamia Hutto took nearly five seconds off her season-best time in the 1,500 meters. Hutto earned a sixth-place finish in 4 minutes, 56.73 seconds. Fellow senior Shanneka Claiborne also ran a season-best in her signature event. Claiborne was fifth in the 100 meter dash in 11.76 seconds.
Several members of the NSU women's team will participate this week in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., the team's final meet before the MEAC Outdoor Championship in Greensboro, N.C., May 3-5.
