Day 2 Results
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Champagne Bell won her first-ever MEAC outdoor women's long jump title in dramatic fashion as the Spartan women's track team competed Friday in second-day action of the 2012 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship at North Carolina A&T.
Bell won with a PR of 20 feet, 5.25 inches. She saved her best effort for last, notching her winning jump in her final attempt to overtake Shakia Forbes of North Carolina A&T (19-9). Bell also completed a yearly sweep of the MEAC's two long jump titles after winning the indoor championship in February.
Bell recorded 10 of the 15 points for the Spartan women on Friday. Junior Kellen Rutto had the other five by finishing fourth in the 5,000 meters (19:19.31). The NSU women are in eighth place with 15 points. Hampton leads with 62.
The final day of action gets underway at 9 a.m. Saturday.
