LEESBURG, Va. – The Norfolk State men's cross country team finished fourth at the George Mason Invitational on Saturday.
NSU finished with 84 points behind George Mason (20), UNC-Wilmington (57) and American (73).
Freshman Sammy Kiptoo paced the Spartans in the 8K race, finishing in sixth place with a time of 27:57.70. Senior Damtew Adnew was the next best finisher for NSU as he ran a time of 29:02.80 to place 16th.
Rounding out the top 30 finishes for the Spartans were senior Kipchirchir Kiptoo (30:50.20), redshirt freshmen Marquis Worsley (31:37.70) and William Brown Jr. (31:46.10), and sophomores Jerome Scurry Jr. (32:34.40) and Joshua Carino (32:51.50). They finished 23rd, 25th, 26th, 29th and 30th, respectively.
Up next for the Spartans is the NCAA Pre-National Meet in Terra Haute, Ind., on Oct. 19.
