Complete Match Results vs. UMES

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. –The Norfolk State men's tennis team's claimed wins over Coppin State and Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans improved to 11-7 overall while Coppin State fell to 4-6 and UMES fell to 0-7.

In the first match, NSU defeated Coppin State, 6-0. NSU was 2-1 in doubles play. In match two, Daniel Grauel and Samuel Lemberger beat Patrick Thomas and Roderick Peyton, 8-3. Igor Braga and Robin Riethmueller claimed an 8-0 win over Reginald Robinson and Tre'vonne Peyton. The Spartans' only loss in the doubles competition was from Peter Ramstromer-Pello and Dzmitry Zyhmantovich, who suffered an 8-7(5) loss to Oleksiy Krylchuk and Daniel Nino in match one.

Zyhmantovich got things started with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Krylchuk. In match two, Riethmueller defeated Nino, 6-2, 6-2. Braga posted a 6-2, 6-1 win against Robinson. Ramstromer-Pello competed in match three, where he defeated R. Peyton, 6-2, 6-0. In match five, Lemberger came out with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Thomas. Grauel was up 6-2, 4-2 on T. Peyton when NSU claimed the victory against Coppin State.

The Spartans upended UMES, 5-0. Lemberger and Grauel improved to 7-3 with an 8-1 win against Wirlen Elame and Kijontray McClay. Braga and Riethmueller moved to 7-8 on the season with their 8-0 victory over Joseph Journey and Mohin Uddin.

In the singles matches, Braga improved to 7-10 overall with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Elame. In match two, Ramstromer-Pello (10-7) defeated McClay, 6-1, 6-0. Lemberger (5-9) claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Journey. Grauel (8-7) closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Uddin.

NSU will host Richmond on Sunday at the NSU Tennis Complex. Play begins at 3 p.m.
