EUGENE, Ore. - Norfolk State junior
Champagne Bell placed 23rd overall in the women's long jump at the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday night at Hayward Field.
Bell fouled on her first two attempts before notching a jump of 5.77 meters (18 feet, 11.25 inches) on her third and final leap.
Bell, the MEAC outdoor long jump champion, will earn All-America honorable mention accolades when the honors are officially announced following the meet on Saturday. It will be the second time Bell will have earned that honor. She also advanced to the nationals as a freshman in 2011, finishing 22nd.
She caps her third season at NSU with three conference championships this school year. She doubled as MEAC indoor long jump champion and also ran a leg on the Spartans' MEAC outdoor championship 4x100 relay team.
