NSU Cross Country Releases 2013 Schedule

NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State University men's and women's cross country teams released their 2013 schedules Wednesday.

The men and women will kick off the 2013 campaign with two meets at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md. The Lid-Lifter Invitational is set for Sept. 7, while the Cappy Anderson Invitational will be held on Sept. 21.

Following the two meets at UMES, the Spartans will travel to Leesburg, Va., to compete at the George Mason Invitational. Head coach Kenneth Giles is very excited about competing in the meet at George Mason.

"The George Mason Invitational is a competitive meet for our program." Giles said. "This meet will allow us to see how we match up against some of the best programs in the nation."

NSU is also slated to run at pair of meets on Oct. 19. The women's team will run in the Christopher Newport Invitational in Yorktown, Va., while the men's team will travel to Terra Haute, Ind., to compete in the NCAA Pre-National Meet.

The 2013 MEAC cross country championship will be held on Oct. 26 on the campus of the UMES in Princess Anne, Md. Last season the men's team placed second, while the women finished in 10th place. The men's team has won four of the last five MEAC titles.

Both teams will close out the season on Nov. 15 at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Earlysville, Va., with a bid to the NCAA National Championships on the line. The NCAA championship is scheduled for Nov. 23 at the Wabash Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
