PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Norfolk State men's cross-country team opened its season Saturday with a first-place finish at the UMES Season Opener.
The Spartans scored 20 points with finishes of 1-3-4-5-7-11.
Ian Kimutai won the race in 15:12.51, while Matthew Kipkoech finished third at 15:25.54.
Lewis Too (15:31.96) and
Jemmel Green (15:32.91) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, while
Basil Koech claimed seventh in 15:59.39.
Nimporembere Drogba rounded out NSU's scoring with an 11th-place finish at 16:41.88.
Norfolk State returns to action Sept. 12 at the UVA Invite in Charlottesville, Va.
