CNU Holiday Open ResultsNEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
Brianna Hayes finished second in the high jump and
Torie Cunningham earned two top-10 finishes for the Spartan women's track and field team on Saturday at the CNU Holiday Open.

The freshman Hayes, in her first meet as a Spartan, cleared 5 feet, 5.75 inches. That tied with Deandra Daniel of Coppin State for the top mark in the event, but Daniel took first based on fewer misses.

On the track, Cunningham tied for seventh in the 60 meters (7.74 seconds) and was ninth in the 200 meters (26.31 seconds). NSU's top finishes on the track came from a pair of juniors.
Jazmine Vaughan placed fifth in the 60 hurdles (8.84 seconds) and
Rachel Webb also earned a fifth-place finish, crossing the line in a time of 19:27.81 in the 3,000 meters.

In other field events, junior
Kiara Howell took third place in the shot put. Her best attempt was 44 feet, 11 inches. Senior
Tiara Davis tied for fifth in the pole vault with a top height of 10-6. Teammates
Tasia Baxter (eighth, 10-0) and
Te'Shaibrah Myles (tied for ninth, 9-6.25) also placed in the top 10 in that event. Sophomore
De'Andra Doyle earned sixth in the weight throw with a best effort of 45-1.5.

The Spartans are off for the next month for the semester break. Their next meet is on Jan. 10 at the Penn State Indoor Relays.
