NORFOLK, Va. – For the fifth time this season, Norfolk State senior forward Rachel Gordon was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Gordon's layup with three seconds left in the game gave the Spartans a 64-63 win over Morgan State on Saturday at Hill Field House in Baltimore, Md. Gordon posted her 11th double-double of the season, finishing the game with 19 points and 17 rebounds. She also had one block and one steal.

Gordon, who ranks first in the MEAC and seventh in the nation in rebounding, is in fourth place all-time in career rebounding at NSU with 967 boards. She needs 34 more rebounds to pass Sharon Wallace for first place, which means she needs to average only 4.8 boards over the next seven regular season games.

The Spartans take on Howard tonight at Joseph Echols Hall. Game time is at 6 p.m.
