Vince Brown Invitational Results
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Norfolk State women's track team completed its final tuneup before next week's MEAC Indoor Championship this past weekend as the Spartans sent a small contingent of athletes to CNU's Vince Brown Invitational.
Junior
Desmonae Gray led the way for NSU with a win in the 60 meter hurdles (9.06 seconds) and a runner-up finish in the long jump (17 feet, 6 inches).
Spartan middle distance runners
Ra'Shaun Combs and
Rachel Webb also turned in strong efforts. Combs was third in the 800 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 24.68 seconds. Webb was fourth in the mile in 5:27.75, the best mile time for an NSU woman this season.
Sprinter
Rayiana Johnson ran well in the 60 meter dash, placing seventh in a time of 7.74 seconds.
The Spartans will travel to Landover, Md. for this week's MEAC Indoor Championship, which gets underway Thursday at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex.
