Meet Results

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.
– Sophomore Kiara Howell earned multiple top-10 finishes for the second straight week to lead the NSU women's track and field team at the Virginia Cup hosted by the University of Virginia.

Howell improved on her marks in both the discus and javelin from the outdoor season-opening Shamrock Invitational last week. And just like at Shamrock, Howell finished in the top 10 in both events. Howell had a best effort of 146 feet to finish as runner-up in the discus, and was fourth in the javelin with a best throw of 127-5.

The only other two athletes who competed for the NSU women in field events Saturday also placed in the top 10 of their events. Also in the discus, freshman De'Andra Doyle was third with a top effort of 132-8. She also took 10th in the javelin with a throw of 79-4.

In the pole vault, junior Tiara Davis cleared 10-5.5 to finish fourth.

The Spartans' 4x400 relay team posted the highest finish for NSU in a running event Saturday. The quartet of Champagne Bell, Justice Briscoe, Rayiana Johnson and Kaydianne McKenzie took fourth in 3 minutes, 59.74 seconds.

In other running events, junior Torie Cunningham took fifth in the 100 meter dash (12.23 seconds) and Briscoe was sixth in the 400 meters (59.45). Sophomore Rachel Webb placed ninth in the 1,500 meters (4:58.96) and 11th in the 800 (2:22.78).

The Spartans are off next week and return to action on April 3-5 with part of the squad participating in the Florida Relays and others at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg.
