NORFOLK, Va. – South Carolina State opened up play in the MEAC Southern Division with a 4-0 victory over the Norfolk State men's tennis team on Sunday evening at ODU's Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs won at the top four spots in the lineup, with the other two matches abandoned once S.C. State secured the match victory. Due to the interest of time, the teams played singles first and were only scheduled to compete in doubles if the match result was still in doubt.

The closest completed match for NSU (1-9 overall, 0-1 MEAC) took place at No. 4 singles. Freshman
Fatehdeep Singh fell by a 7-5, 6-4 score to Soufiane Mouline. At the top spot in the lineup, senior
Pascal Domnik dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision to Rodney Carey.

Martin Figura defeated senior
Igor Braga, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2 singles, while Vladyslav Yanchenko handed freshman
Antonio Pejic a 6-2, 6-2 setback at the third singles slot.

Daniel Grauel (No. 5 singles) and
Shaheed Mourillon-Swift (No. 6) competed against Jakub Vitek and Edgar Diaz, respectively, but both matches were stopped before the end.

The Bulldogs improved their record to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

The Spartans will face Hampton Tuesday at 8:45 p.m. at the Centre Court Racquet Club in a contest that has been postponed three different times due to inclement weather.
