Spartans End Outdoor Season at Aggie Last Chance Meet

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Norfolk State women's track and field team closed its 2015 outdoor season on Sunday at the Aggie Last Chance Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T.

Two Spartans competed, trying to improve their season-best marks in hopes of advancing to the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla., later this month. Junior Kiara Howell placed fifth in the discus with a top throw of 43.35 meters (142 feet, 3 inches). Junior Jazmine Vaughan ran a preliminary time of 14.08 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to place 11th overall, and sixth among collegians. Both Spartans posted some of their strongest performances of outdoor season in recent weeks, but will finish just outside of contention for the regional, which takes the top 48 athletes in each event.
