EARLYSVILLE, Va. – The Norfolk State men's cross country team opened its 2015 season by competing Wednesday evening in the University of Virginia Duals 4,000-meter race at Panorama Farms. The meet also included teams from U.Va., Charlotte and Liberty, who finished ahead of the Spartans in first through third places, respectively.
Sophomore
Haileyesus Demsie paced the Spartans by placing 10th in a time of 12 minutes, 42 seconds. The Spartans' other four runners placed 25th through 28th, respectively. Junior
David Kibet was 25th in a time of 13:33, following by junior
Desmond Fogg in 13:35. Fellow junior
William Brown Jr. was next in 14:15.28, with freshman
Joseph Wanene making his Spartan debut in a time of 14:15.82.
Members of the Spartan men's and women's teams will compete at the UMES Lid-Lifter Invitational this Saturday in Princess Anne, Md.
