Taejah Robertson had a hand in five top-five finishes as the Spartan women's track and field team returned to action at the Penn State Relays on Saturday.
Lee, a freshman, placed second in the 60 meters in season-best time of 7.68 seconds. John, in her first year after transferring from junior college, was second in the 200 meters and fifth in the 500. Her 200m time of 24.85 seconds is the second-fastest in the MEAC so far this season. She also clocked a time of 1:16.47 in the 500m. Lee, John and freshmen Crystal Green and
Chazmin Fullwood also helped the Spartans take fourth in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:55.20.
Robertson brought home a fifth-place finish for the Spartans in her best indoor event, the 60-meter hurdles. She posted a time of 8.77 seconds, a season best and third-best in the MEAC so far this year. Teammate
Jazmine Vaughan was seventh in the 60 hurdles in 8.93 seconds.
The Spartans, coming back off holiday break, took only a small contingent of athletes to PSU, especially in the field events. Sophomore
Brianna Hayes had the best finish among the field competitors, tying for seventh in the high jump with a top clearance of 5 feet, 3 inches.
The Spartans compete in two meets this week, a tri-meet at Hampton on Wednesday and then the Joe Hilton Invitational at the University of North Carolina this weekend.
