NSU Results @ Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Norfolk State's women's 4x100 meter relay team advanced to the college finals at the Penn Relays last weekend, recording its top two times of the year at the team's final tuneup before the conference outdoor meet.
The foursome of
Taejah Robertson,
Tyrika Lee,
Janay Fields and
Nickheila John finished fourth in its heat in a time of 47.10 seconds on Thursday, good for 18th out of the 86 teams in the event. That qualified the quartet for the college section of the 4x100 finals, where they topped their season-best time again with a 46.90 clocking. The Spartans took seventh place in the finals.
Individually, senior
Kiara Howell made her last Penn Relays appearance as a collegian a successful one. Howell took a pair of eighth-place finishes in the discus and shot put. She posted a mark of 149 feet, 4 inches in the discus, her best throw of the season and tops in the MEAC this year. In the shot put, Howell's top mark was 44-2.5.
Howell also finished 21st in the javelin (125-6) at the meet.
The Spartans will compete this Thursday through Saturday at the 2016 MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Greensboro, N.C., on the campus of North Carolina A&T.
