NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk State freshman
Garth Warner was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Co-Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Warner placed second overall and first among collegiate athletes in the high jump at last weekend's Charlotte 49er Invitational. Warner cleared 6 feet, 10.75 inches, which represents an outdoor personal record for the freshman and is the top jump in the MEAC this outdoor season. The jump also ranks Warner among the top 30 in the NCAA East Region to date.
This is the third time this academic year, but first during outdoor season, that Warner has won the conference's weekly field honor. He shared the award this week with South Carolina State thrower Anthony Britt.
