NORFOLK, Va. – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced the brackets for next week's MEAC basketball tournaments at the Norfolk Scope Arena, and both Norfolk State teams open play in Monday's first round.

The fourth-seeded Spartan women's basketball team (18-10) will play the tourney's first game against No. 13 seed Savannah State at 11 a.m. Monday. Should the Spartans win, their next game would not be until 2 p.m. Thursday in the quarterfinal round against the winner of the Howard-Florida A&M contest.

The No. 5 seed NSU men (13-18) also play in Monday's first round. The Spartans match up with No. 12 seed Maryland Eastern Shore at 9 p.m., the fifth and final game of the day. The winner of that game will play at 8 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the North Carolina A&T-Delaware State first-round game.

All NSU men's games will be broadcast on both Famous 1310 AM and WNSB Hot 91.1 FM. The Spartan women's games will also be carried by 91.1 FM. In addition, all games of the tournament will be video streamed live on ESPN3.
